Relational Semantics Revisited

We examine in this paper to what extent at domains containing a `bottom' element, domain constructions such as Plotkin's, and special orderings such as the Egli-Milner ordering or the Smyth ordering can be eschewed (i.e., replaced, respectively, by sets, powersets and the subset relation) in the denotational deenition of the relational semantics of (possibly innnitely) nondeterministic sequenti...

Relational Semantics Through Duality

In this paper we show how the classical duality results extended to a Duality via Truth contribute to development of a relational semantics for various modal-like logics. In particular, we present a Duality via Truth for some classes of information algebras and frames. We also show that the full categorical formulation of classical duality extends to a full Duality via Truth.

Towards Foundational Semantics - Ontological Semantics Revisited

In line with Nirenburg and Raskin’s paradigm of ontological semantics, we adhere to the basic tenet that natural language semantics needs to be captured with respect to an explicitly formalized ontology. Many researchers in computational semantics, however, have neglected the ontological aspects of meaning representation, and even more have neglected aspects of meaning representation related to...

Data Semantics Revisited

The problem of data semantics is establishing and maintaining the correspondence between a data source and its intended subject matter. We review the long history of the problem in Databases, and contrast it with recent research on the Semantic Web. We then propose two new directions for research on the problem and sketch some open research questions.

JML Assertion Semantics Revisited

JML was designed to be written and read by working Java programmers. In this paper we illustrate how the current JML assertion semantics is likely to appear counter intuitive to such programmers. An alternative semantics is discussed.
